The Drill: Around the Horn

Description: A fun drill to work on infield throwing, stressing quick accurate throws.

Instructions: Make up teams of 5 players each, covering each infield position except pitcher. SS and 2B play in their normal positions. Draw a square in the dirt to use as their 'base'. Players must catch the ball and touch the base before throwing to the next fielder. If a throw is missed, the fielder must go get the ball, return to his base, then throw. The catcher starts with the ball and throws to 3rd who throws to 2nd who throws to SS who throws to 1st who throws home. Each team goes twice. Switch teams. Fastest combined time wins. Same drill can be done using 4 players at each base, throwing from C to 3B to 1B to 2B to home.
