The Drill: Outfield Bullseye

Description: Develops accurate outfield throwing, and a conditioning drill for less accurate throwers!

Instructions: Position fielders in mid to shallow centerfield. Position a screen directly in front of third base, facing centerfield. Coach tosses a ball into the air to simulate a fly ball. Fielder catches the fly then makes a throw to the screen. If the fielder misses the screen, they must run and retrieve the ball before rejoining the line. This drill is to work on and reinforce the importance of an accurate throw from the outfield. Teach fielders that throwing the ball low, with one or two hops, is better than throwing it over the screen. If you want, lay the screen on it's side to make a lower target. This drill can also be combined with the golden glove game to add an extra element.
