Figure 8 Pairs Passing

For age level: 11 to 13

Explanation: Players face each other, one with a puck, and then mirror each other, each skating a figure 8. Player 1 begins skating foreward while Player 2 begins skating backward. Players pass back and forth while skating. While skating the figure 8, players will transition from foreward to backward and backward to forward so they are always facing their partner.

Tips: Have players start slow with small figure 8's. Progress to faster skating speed. Introduce a second puck to improve skill level. Drill works best with forehand passing only. Players should work on giving a receiving passes both while skating forewards and backwards.
